Tools of The
Trade
So, you want
to create your own games? There are some
tools you need to use in order to create
your own games... Here we show you some of
the best of them
1. A compiler
A compiler is the software that you use to
write your own programs. Here, at MXDSoft,
we use C++. You can use whatever language
you would like. You can use C/Delphi/VB, or
even Macromedia Flash. Choosing a
programming language isn't exactly a trivial
task (they differ greatly in terms of ease
of use/speed/reusability). Try to choose
something you feel comfortable with.
2. A 3D
Modeling program
We use Blender. This is an incredible
3D modeling program. The program is free.
But it is much much stronger and more
intuitive than commercial 3D modeling
programs! It was used for creating several
TV ads by the way.
This program is used by many professionals
today. Have a look for yourself

of The Magic Seal. (Making of the bottle)

3. An image
manipulation program
We use GIMP. This is another great free
program. Again, it is much stronger
than several commercial programs out there.

here...
4. Others
We use several other programs for sound
effects/ Character modeling and so on... But
the above 3 are by far the most important
ones. Once you master them, you can consider
yourself 90% of the way there... The rest is
easy, once you grasp the first 3.
Good luck in your exciting journey. |
